This will be a very quick post - and a very random one. If you haven't heard of Google Deep-Dream it is a pretty cool piece of open-source code. For non-techies like you and I, it is a piece of computer language that Google has created and made available to the public to utilize - providing you have the know-how and processing capacity...
How does this relate to food, the kitchen or even Smoke & Salt I hear you cry! Well the answer is - it doesn't really but it's pretty cool! The program takes an ordinary picture and using various magics and dark arts, processes and twists the picture sometimes giving odd, nightmare-ish and even downright scary results. Take the picture we took at the opening night of Platform 1 (formerly P.Liquor) for example:
Above is the kitchen team, looking normal and happy! And yet look at the 'deep-dreamed' picture below:
Pretty trippy. There are various sites on the internet where you can upload your own pictures to get 'deep-dreamed' but the quickest and easiest is to use Google's own site here.
